So I have just had a conversation with my mother in which she has informed me that my symptoms are exactly that of swine flu, and that in all probability this is what I've just had.

I was a bit taken aback by this.

I've not paid much attention to it, to be honest, so all I knew about it was that occasionally people have died. But apparently in most cases it's just like really mild flu, with a headache, bad sore throat and general weakness.

Aaaaand now I'm having a hot flush.

*Squeeeeeeeeaaaaaallllls*

Right, I'm officially bored with being ill now. Not that I especially want to go back to work, but - bah.

I'm back at work. Boo. Also, they moved our offices round while I was off, so now I can't find anything LOL. *headdesk*

I bummed a lift home in a taxi with my gran the other day, and we could hear discussion over the radio between the base and another taxi about a lorry blocking Market Street. At which point our driver picked up his radio and urged "Use the cannon!" *sporfles*

Thank you to tinselworm and cryforthemoon for your lovely cards! I also received a card today (not from anyone on here) that had a stamp blatantly cut off something else and sellotaped on with the previous patch of envelope visible underneath it LOL. The Post Office didn't seem to object though.

In other news: still meh. Better than I was, but still in the realms of feeling unspeakably awful. Thanks to everybody who sent good wishes, they are much appreciated!

I'm sure there were other things I was going to write, but my brain's still not working properly *swoons waifishly heavily onto sofa*

So it turns out what I thought was a hangover was, in fact, the flu. And I've spent the last two days flat on my back in intense pain, unable to move, think, or at one point breathe, thanks to a cough which appears to be trying to drown me. Haven't eaten for the last 48 hours. Feels like I've been hit by a truck - everything aches. My brain feels like it's trying to climb out of my skull. Painkillers - no effect whatsoever. Throat feels like something with claws is shredding it.

Called work on Monday morning to whimper at them and it turns out two other people have got it as well, so presumably some bastard infected us all on Friday night.

Erm - Matt/Ros - I really hope you haven't caught this. *hides in shame*

And thank you for your card ladybella! Scientifically proven - when you feel like death receiving filthy limericks in the post will cheer you up :)
